2019 Change Makers’ Luncheon – Celebrating 100 Years: The Power to Vote
October 20, 2019 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Come celebrate 100 years of women’s right to vote! Join us for the 2019 Change Makers’ Luncheon.
We fought hard to win the right to vote 100 years ago. Cabarrus County Democratic Women will be celebrating this right on October 20th with a brunch featuring dynamic female speakers (detailed below) looking to make progressive changes in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, and the United States.
It is up to us, the women of this country, to use this hard fought for right to end the turmoil of the past 4 years and it all starts locally. All proceeds from the brunch will be used to support female candidates in Cabarrus County.
Buy your tickets before by September 30th for a special rate of only $50 (plus fees)! VIP Meet and Greet tickets are also available for $150 for a special reception with our speakers. In addition to a great speaker line up and a delicious brunch there will be door prizes and a silent auction. Do not miss this event!!!
Reverend Sharon Risher
Reverend Sharon Washington Risher was catapulted into the limelight after the Charleston, South Carolina shooting at the Mother Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church on June 17, 2015. Her beloved mother — the church’s sexton — Ethel Lee Lance, was killed along with eight others, including two cousins and a childhood friend.
Since that horrific tragedy, Sharon has been very outspoken about the nation’s gun laws and is one of the national spokespersons for the grassroots advocacy groups Everytown and Moms Demand Gun Sense.
NC Representative Christy Clark
Representative Clark was raised in a family dedicated to volunteerism and community service. For five years, she dedicated herself to public service, leading efforts on gun violence prevention with Moms Demand Action, serving as the North Carolina Chapter Leader for two years. She spent many hours in the General Assembly working with legislators on both sides of the aisle, attending committee meetings and sessions of the House and Senate. She saw first hand how citizen’s voices could impact the legislative process.
Beth is an Emmy Award Winning American television personality.
Troutman was the lead host of the syndicated TV Show, RightThisMinute. In 2015 on air she disclosed because of wanting to spend more time with her ailing mother that she would be leaving the show. She is considered an industry expert on viral videos and on-line content and has appeared on numerous popular entertainment and news shows including The Today Show, Extra, Dr. Drew On Call, Headline News, Home and Family, and Good Day New York.
